Lake Hallwyl (Hallwil) is approximately 8.5 km long and 1.5 km wide and is shared between the cantons of Aargau and Lucerne. It is a very popular destination for a day trip.

I have always been in my element around water. It gives me strength and peace of mind. A hike around the lake is rather long (22 km) and it takes more than 5 hours. However, I love to walk along sections of the unobstructed lakeside and  take a boat back or visit the most charming Hallwyl Castle. The castle is currently closed but there are plans to reopen it in April 2021. A glass of wine or lunch on the boat or in one of the restaurants along the shore makes the day perfect. In summer, take your swimming gear along to take a quick dip in it.

In any season, this area is worth visiting!

Kid / Family Friendly?

Yes, all ages. Most of the paths are wide enough for a stroller. It is an easy walkable path for young and old.
