Each time I arrive, there is a warm and friendly welcome at the hotel by the proprietor. The rooms are big, warm, comfortable with spectacular views of the mountains. Breakfast is included in the room price and I have eaten an excellent dinner in the restaurant many times. I love the remoteness of the snowshoe trails, but there are also well-trodden winter walking paths. At the top of the pass, Vorder Höhi, there is a basic but highly welcome rustic snack bar. I love drinking a coffee or a beer on the benches outside in the sun and admiring the view. There is also access to the Amden-Weesen ski area, more for beginners than intermediates.
